EPL Broadcasting problem resolved

The infamous broadcasting saga between Egyptian Premier League clubs and state TV has been resolved on Thursday.

Egyptian Higher Council of Sports president Hassan Sakr has struck a deal with state TV, following an order from Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif to solve the problem immediately.

Sakr held a meeting with Egyptian FA chief Samir Zaher with the presence of Ahli and Zamalek chairmen Hassan Hamdi and Mamdouh Abbas.

Subsequently, local Channel 2 and the Egyptian Satellite Channel (ESC) are entitled to broadcast games for free, while private cable networks will be charged EGP 8million each.

The fresh events mean that Thursday’s league games will be broadcast-ed live.

Zamalek take on Petrojet at 21.30, whereas Ismaili host ENPPI two hours earlier in the second round of the league.

The broadcasting saga reached a climax on Wednesday when clubs prevented state TV from broadcasting six Premier League games, including Ahli vs. Police Union.
