Egypt vs Spain June 4th 2009 (friendly)

African champions Egypt will play Spain in a pre-World Cup friendly on June 4, the Egyptian Football Association have confirmed.

The Pharaohs, who failed to qualify for the global spectacle in South Africa, will be looking to offer a much sterner test to their European counterparts after their last meeting in 2006 ended in a 2-0 loss.

“I sat down with (coach) Hassan Shehata and he has no problems with playing the game,” EFA president Samir Zaher told www.filgoal.com

Spain, one of the World Cup favourites, will use the game at a yet-to-be-decided venue as preparation for their opening match against Switzerland on June 16.

The north Africans are currently defending their continental crown in Angola, where they are bidding for a third consecutive title and seventh overall.
