The young Pharaohs and Brazil will play in Group E, which also includes Austria and Panama, who were both not present when Egypt hosted the 2009 tournament.

Egypt and Brazil’s senior teams met in an intriguing clash in the Confederations Cup two years ago. Egypt fought bravely but ended up losing 4-3 after a breathtaking finale saw 2007 World Player of the Year Kaka convert a stoppage-time penalty.

Brazil won the last of their four U-20 World Cup titles in 2003, two years after Egypt made their best finish after clinching the bronze medal.

Egypt qualified for this year’s edition after reaching the semifinal of the African Youth Championship, where they will meet Cameroon later on Thursday for a place in the final.

Cameroon will play in Group B of the World Cup along with Portugal, Uruguay and the Champion of Oceania, who are yet to be identified.

Mali were drawn with hosts Colombia, France and South Korea while Nigeria, Africa’s fourth representatives, will face Croatia, Saudi Arabia and Guatemala in Group D.

The tournament will be played from 29 July to 20 August.
