After a six-week break, defending Egyptian Premier League champions Ahly will resume action when they take on Maqassa on Friday at Cairo Stadium.

The game is set to be played in a turbulent context, as hundreds of thousands are expected to gather in Tahrir Square protesting violence used by security forces against protesters over recent days.
“It will be a difficult game. We are missing some key players and Maqassa is a very good team that has a strong front line. They are also well prepared because they played two games after the Premier League’s resumption, while it will be our first. But we need to win to regain our rhythm and confidence ahead of the Ismaily clash,” Ahly’s assistant coach, Pedro Barny, told the club’s official website.
Their rivals don’t see it that way, as Maqassa assistant coach Tarek Mostafa thinks his men are exhausted after playing two tough games against Enppi and Ismaily in just four days before moving to Ahly.
“It is really hard for us to play all these tough matches in such little time. Our players are exhausted and we have a lot of injuries,” he said.
