Al Ahly have denied allegations claiming that head coach Manuel Jose will quit following the tragic events of Port-Said.
Egyptian reports suggested that the Portuguese, whose contract expires in the summer, intends to step down after dozens of Ahli fans were killed in clashes with Masri fans.
But the Cairo giants said on their website that Jose met with chairman Hassan Hamdi on Thursday to stress that he will carry on his mission of leading the first team.
The Egyptian champions added that the agreement with the 65-year-old coach is still intact as he remains ‘very attached to Ahli and its great fans’.
Jose has been subjected to several assaults from the Masri fans during the ill-tempered night.
