Esperance de Tunis clinch Tunisian League title after Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Club Africain

Esperance de Tunis received a morale boost before the CAF Champions League semis after winning the Tunisian League following their 3-2 win over archrivals Club Africain 3-2 in the Tunisian derby on Wednesday.
Following the victory, Esperance de Tunis have 95 points – five points ahead of second-placed Bizertin, who have 90 points.

Striker Ihab Msakni opened the scoring for Esperance in the 11th minute of the game, but Club Africain midfielder Achref Zitouni scored the equaliser four minutes later.

Msakni scored a second goal for the defending champions in the 33rd minute of the game, while his teammate, Cameroonian striker Yannick Niang, scored the third.

Seifeddine Jaziri scored the consolation goal for Club Africain during injury time.

The title was the 25th for the club in their history with the Tunisian League.

Esperance de Tunis, who are the defending champions of the CAF Champions League, are currently preparing for their upcoming clash in the continental competition’s semi-finals against TP Mazembe, slated for between 5 and 7 October.
