Al Ahly is ready for Orlando Pirates CL Match
Al Ahly will host South Africa’s Orlando Pirates on August 4th 2013 at El Gouna Stadium.
Al ahly have added Gedo and Ahmed Nabil ‘Manga’ to their Champions League squad ahead of the group-stage clash against Orlando Pirates, the Cairo club said.
Even though he is still nursing a long-term foot injury, Egypt forward Geddo was included to the list.
Gedo’s inclusion affirms Ahly’s earlier suggestion that he will not be leaving the club this summer, despite the 28-year-old’s willingness to play abroad.
Meanwhile, midfielder Manga was also included and is expected to be part of the squad to face Pirates on Sunday.
The South Africans will be considered second-favorites when they visit the reigning champions in Gouna, even so defender Lekgwathi seems positive.
“I’ve been particularly pleased with the team spirit in the camp. We are all focused for this encounter,” the 37-year-old told Pirates website.
“What keeps me so positive for this game is the fact that we have a team of players that are prepared to die with their boots on.
Champions League Group A is level after the first round, with Zamalek-Ahly (1-1) and Orlando Pirates-AC Leopards (0-0).
