In his first television interview since announcing his candidacy for president, Gen Sisi indicated there would be no reconciliation between the secular military leadership and mass Islamist movement.
“I did not finish [the Brotherhood], you Egyptians finished it,” he said, saying simply “yes” when asked if the Brotherhood would cease to exist under his presidency.
