Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady kicked off the new year in style as he scored the opener in Hull City’s crucial 2-0 win against Everton on Thursday.
The tireless wing-back rose above the defence to head in from Liam Rosenior’s cross from the left in the 33rd minute.

It paved the way to Nikica Jelavic to tap in the second after breaking the offside trap in the 43rd minute to claim a comfortable victory against Everton who finished the game with 10 men after Antolin Alcaraz was red-carded in the 86th minute.

It is Elmohamady’s first goal of the season in 20 Premier Leagues.

The 27-year-old midfielder is among the players with most appearances in the Premier League as he featured in all the games and was substituted only once in the 92nd minute of his team’s game against Crystal Palace in week 7.

The victory lifted the Tigers above the relegation zone as they have now 19 points to climb to the 15th place of the 20-team table.

Hull City have been struggling lately as they fell to the 19th place at the end of 2014. The victory against Everton is their second in the past 13 games but coach Steve Bruce will hope it would give them a huge boost in 2015.
