Egypt wins All African Games 2015 with 193 medals

Egypt have officially claimed the 2015 All African Games title after winning 193 medals, including 76 golds, beating title-holders South Africa with two days remaining in the games schedule.

Egypt won 14 gold medals in the men’s weightlifting event, while the women gained 11 gold medals. Moreover, Egypt also won seven gold medals in fencing and 11 gold medals in swimming.

Egypt currently top the ranking table with 193 medals — 76 gold, 56 silver and 61 bronze. The Egyptians could yet increase their tally of medals as they will contest the basketball final on Friday against Angola, while the handball team are strong favorites to win the gold on Saturday.

The 2011 winners, South Africa, are second, with a total of 121 medals — 41 gold, 41 silver and 39 bronze. Algeria are in third place with 117 medals, including 39 golds.
