DONE DEAL: Mohamed Koffi joins Saudi Arabia side Al-Ittifaq

Burkinabe defender Mohamed Koffi has officially joined Saudi Arabia side Al-Ittifaq on loan for one season.

“Koffi will arrive Sunday to complete his loan move from Zamalek,” read a statement on Al-Ittifaq’s official Twitter account.

“Al-Ittifaq have concluded the deal with Zamalek, who own Koffi’s contract, to allow the player to undergo a medical with the team before putting pen to paper,” the statement added.

Al-Ittifaq management thanked their counterparts in Zamalek for their contribution in finalising the deal.

Koffi flew to his homeland last week after being involved in a feud with outspoken chairman Mortada Mansour, saying he had no choice but to leave after the club could not keep its promise of resolving his late payment.

Burkinabe defender Mohamed Koffi surprisingly backpedaled on his statements, apologising to Zamalek management Sunday a few hours before announcing his loan to the Saudi side.

Koffi, who also played for Petrojet in Egypt, joined Zamalek after ending a brief stint with Iraqi side Duhok. He played an instrumental role in helping Zamalek club win the Egyptian Premier League in 2015 for the first time in 11 years.
