Nouran Gohar Wins Squash World Junior Championship

Egyptian squash player Nouran Gohar, 18, clenched her second World Junior Championship title Bielsko-Biala, Poland after defeating fellow Egyptian Rowan El-Araby 11-5, 11-6, 11-7.

Gohar, who ranks 5th worldwide, became the fourth woman to become a World Junior Squash champion more than once in her straight-game victory against 16-year-old Rowan El-Araby. El-Araby’s appearance at the finals was the first for the rising star.

“I can’t believe it,” said Gohar after the match. “To win it more than once and join the legends who have done this before, it’s a dream come true. It was a tough match, Rowan played well but I’m just so happy to finish my junior career with this win.”

According to WSF’s World Juniors website, there has been at least one Egyptian in the last ten finals, winning eight in a row up to 2013.
