Hossam Ghaly might hang his boots at the end of season
Al Ahly’s legend Hossam Ghaly has said he will consider hanging up his boots at the end of this season after evaluating his performance.
“I will evaluate myself this season, especially as it’s the last season remaining in my contract with the club. I hope I can continue playing but if not I will retire. Ahly is the start and the end,” Ghaly who will turn 35 in December said in a long interview with Ahly official website on Thursday.
Ghaly, who started at Al Ahly in 2000, has played with other clubs abroad including Tottenham Hotspur, Lierse, Derby County and Feyenoord.
“I will be choosing between a technical or administrative career after retirement; I haven’t decided yet.”

He also commented on his earlier announcement to retire international football following successive dropping from the Egyptian national team squad under Argentinean coach Hector Cuper.
“I said that before and I’m considering the matter now; I will announce soon if I decide to retire or continue playing,” he added.
The player wished the Pharaohs luck in their bid for the 2018 World Cup as they play Congo on Sunday, before meeting heavyweights Ghana and Uganda in the other Group G games.
Ghaly also praised new Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry, saying he was surprised at the departure of Martin Jol.
