Al Ahly faces El-Entag El-Harby tonight with the aim of preserving their lead over nearest challengers Maqassa.
Should Ahly win their next five matches, the last of which will be against Maqassa, they will be assured of a ninth league title in 10 seasons.
They can be also crowned champions earlier than that if Maqassa, who are 10 points behind them having played a game more, slip up before then.
Ahly lost their favourite title only once in the last 12 years, surrendering it to arch rivals Zamalek in 2015. They are expected to wrap up a 39th title this term.
El-Entag are 14th in the 18-team table and they will be hoping to avoid defeat to remain away from the relegation zone.
Ahly welcome back winger Walid Soliman after he recovered from injury but veteran striker Emad Meteb remains out of favour.
