Egyptian champions Ahly have officially sent their out-of-favor playmaker Abdallah El-Said out on loan to Finnish club Kuopion Palloseura for just two months.

“Kuopion Palloseura strengthens its team at the deadline of the transfer window with a big signing,” the club stated via its official website on Tuesday afternoon.

“El-Said joins the team on a loan contract; he is able to play any position in attack and midfield,” the statement added.

Ahly announced on 14 March that star playmaker El-Said had been put on the market, just a few hours after announcing his two-year contract renewal.

The decision was a disciplinary action by Ahly after learning of the player’s signing with arch rivals Zamalek ahead of signing his new contract.

“Ahly didn’t aim at any financial benefits from the deal,” Ahly’s board spokesman Adly El-Kiey told an Egyptian radio station earlier on Tuesday.

“The national-team technical staff wanted to keep the player in action until the World Cup in June, so we looked for a league that still allows the registering of new players, and we did the deal at the last minute,” he added.

“There are other offers for El-Said from Arab Gulf clubs, including a prominent one from Saudi club Al-Ahli, but they will all be discussed in the summer transfer window,” added El-Kiey.

El-Said scored 67 goals and created 54 others in 227 appearances with Ahly in all competitions.
