Egypt will host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) agreed to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) is looking for new hosts after its executive committee voted unanimously on Friday to strip Cameroon of hosting rights.

On Thursday, Egypt’s Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi announced that Egypt will bid to host AFCON after Morocco announced earlier in the day it would not bid to host the tournament.

Hani Abou Rida EFA president is meeting Ahmed Ahmed tomorrow in Cairo to finalize all details regarding the tournament.

“We have no problem with hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations next June,” Ashraf Sobhi told Ahmed Shobier.

“We don’t have any problems with the stadiums as all the fields in Egypt are ready and we don’t need big preparations for the tournament,” he added.

Egypt last hosted an Africa Cup of Nations in 2006 when the Pharaohs won the trophy.

Egypt hosted the tournament three times in 1974, 1986 and 2006. The national team won it a record seven times.
