Egypt Draw with Comoros 0-0 in the 2021 AFCON Q | highlights

Egypt’s national team held a goalless draw with Comoros in another disappointing display, putting Hossam El-Badry’s future in doubt at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Pharaohs started the game so fiercely as early as after only eight minutes when forward Mahmoud Kahraba came so close to putting his side ahead with a powerful shot from the center of the box, hitting the post after receiving an excellent pass from Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet).

Six minutes later, Mohamed Magdy (Afsha) wasted another opportunity when he failed to exploit a well-played cross in the penalty area.

Comoros made their first serious chance when Ibrahim Mane made use of the Pharaohs’ defender Ahmed Hegazy, but El-Shenawy denied Mane’s shot with a great save.

Trezeguet came close to giving the seven-time African Champions the lead in the 65th minute when he was gifted an excellent through from Hussein El Shahat, but his shot was so far.

Egypt’s keeper Mohamed El-Shenawy brought into action once again as his save denied Bakari’s outstanding shot.

Four days ago, the Pharaohs shocked all the Egyptians after holding a 1-1 versus Kenya in their opening match at the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

The Pharaohs now ranks second with two points, as they will wait for Kenya’s result against Togo, while Comoros topped the Group G with four points.
