Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady has become the first-ever Egyptian to make 100 English Premier League appearances after featuring in the 4-2 home defeat by Manchester City.

The 27-year-old Elmohamady kicked off his English adventure with Sunderland in the summer of 2010 after moving from ENPPI in a season-long loan deal worth £500,000.

After ending his one-year loan spell, Sunderland opted to take up the option of a permanent deal – which would keep Elmo at the Stadium of Light until 2014.

During his two-year Sunderland spell, the ex-Ghazl El-Mahalla man featured in 56 games – which saw him register his maiden Premier League goal in a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion on October 2011.

But his uncharacteristic header proved his only Sunderland goal, as he joined Hull the following season on loan to reunite with former boss Bruce in the second-tier Championship.

Having been instrumental with Hull alongside Egypt forward Mohamed ‘Gedo’ Nagy, they managed to help the Championship side pull off top-flight promotion – with Elmo resuming his Premier League career after signing a permanent deal.

He has since scored two league goals and dished out four assists for Hull, including his pin-point cross for Nikica Jelavic, who scored a wonderful opener in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle only a week ago.

Elmohamady, however, could have hoped for a better result against Manchester City, but the Egypt right wing-back could do nothing against a star-studded side featuring the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Eden Dzeko.

But he will still celebrate being the first Egyptian to reach a century of Premier League appearances, with closest rival Mido, who hung up his boots in June 2013, managing 94 games in England’s top competition during stints with the likes of Tottenham, Wigan and Middlesbrough.
