Liverpool visit Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Thursday, with kick-off at Molineux scheduled for 22:00 Cairo Local Time.

Wolves

Starting with the hosts, while Wolves might have found themselves enduring what was an extended rut entering the New Year, the Oranges showed some much-needed resolve over the weekend. Despite falling two goals behind at St. Mary’s on Saturday, Nuno Espírito Santo’s men snatch a 3-2 win over Southampton and there is no doubt that the Midlands outfit will be glad to make a return to Molineux on Thursday. Still sat sixth in the table and only six points adrift of mounting what would be a shock top-four charge, Wolves have continued to save their best performances for home soil.

With a Europa League knockout showdown against Spanish side Espanyol on the horizon, the Oranges have lost just one of their last 12 matches in front of their own supporters, a run that is highlighted by a stunning 3-2 victory over reigning champions Manchester City last month. One man to keep an eye out for in midweek could be leading marksman, Raul Jimenez. Bagging a brace against Southampton last time out, the 28-year-old has four goals in his last six Premier League matchups.

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will again be without Ruben Vinagre due to his hamstring problem.

Diogo Jota and Willy Boly could both be involved after leg and ankle injuries respectively.

Liverpool

As for the visitors, marching on and picking up a 2-0 victory over bitter rivals Manchester United last weekend, Liverpool have continued on what is becoming a famous campaign. Already with one hand on their first Premier League title and knowing that victory on Thursday would see them once again widen their gap to 16 points, the mood in Jurgen Klopp’s camp couldn’t be any higher.

Yet to taste defeat in England’s top-tier this season and in the midst of an eight-match winning run across all formats, there is no doubt that the former Borussia Dortmund boss will be most impressed by his side’s recent performances at the back. The reigning European champions are yet to pick the ball out of their own net since opening the New Year and have remarkably gone over 650 minutes without conceding a single strike. Also winning their last six straight Premier League matches against Thursday’s hosts, Klopp’s side will travel to Molineux rightfully filled with confidence.

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren returned to full training this week having last featured against Red Bull Salzburg on 10 December.

However the trio of Naby Keita, James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri all remain out.
