#Chelsea v #Fiorentina in Salah’s Fifa arbitration courts

AS Roma player Mohamed Salah, is in the spotlight of Fifa’s arbitration courts, as Chelsea goes up against the Italian Fiorentina.

Salah was loaned to Fiorentina from Chelsea on the condition that he would not be able to play for other Italian Series A clubs. However, Chelsea relaxed the terms on unilaterally resulting in Salah joining AC Roma first on loan with the option of joining permanently.

The problems began when Salah refused to return to Fiorentena after his loan period with AC Roma and breaking a clause in his loan contract ended up in Fifa’s arbitration courts with the Italian club seeking compensation from Chelsea for not adhering to the previously agreed terms.

Italian newspapers report that Fifa is expected to give its verdict on 25 January and that the most likely outcome would be that Chelsea is forced to pay Fiorentina compensation, as Salah was a part of Juan Cuadrado’s transfer agreement. However, Salah would not personally be subject to any punitive measures.

On the other hand, Salah’s agent says “nothing will come of Fiorentina’s claim to compensation from Chelsea.”

Salah’s forceful move away from Fiorentina ‘La Viola’ was difficult for Andrea Della Valle, president of Fiorentina, to accept, resulting in Della Valle seeking legal action against Chelsea.

However Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas seems convinced that Fifa’s verdict will be of little consequence and stated that “nothing” would take place on the day the verdict is announced.

Mohamed Salah joined AC Roma last season for a period that lasts until the end of the season in 2016, and has played 19 games and scored six goals.
