Mohamed Elneny has ‘multiple offers’ from European clubs

Seeing Besiktas Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny join the Egyptian Premier League in the near future is highly unlikely as the player has had different offers from European clubs, according to his agent.

“Ahead of the current coronavirus crisis, Besiktas were eying keeping the services of Elneny, but there were no official steps as it was too early,” Elneny’s agent Alaa Nazmy told ON Time Sports TV channel on Sunday.

“The coronavirus pandemic stopped everything and made the future unclear,” he added.

Last August, the Turkish giants announced the signing of the 27-year-old Egyptian international player from English Premier League side Arsenal for one season on loan with an option to make the deal permanent.

As all football activities all over the world are currently suspended due to the coronavirus, the next destination of the former Arab Contractors player remains uncertain.

Elneny made 28 appearances with Besiktas before the Turkish League’s suspension late in March.

“There are many clubs interested in Elneny and Besiktas also want to keep him. He may extend the loan deal or join Besiktas permanently. He could return to Arsenal or join a new club. Anything is possible,” the agent explained.

When asked if the new club could be in Egypt or an Arab Gulf country, the agent said: “This possibility is highly unlikely. Elneny is a very successful player in his European career and he has offers from top-flight clubs in Germany, Spain, and England.”

Elneny, whose current contract with Arsenal runs until 2023, joined the English Premier League team in January 2016 from Switzerland’s FC Basel.

Wearing Arsenal’s jersey, Elneny participated in 89 games, scoring two goals and providing eight assists in all competitions.
