DO OR DIE MATCH: West Ham United v Aston Villa | Preview

Aston Villa will be going all out to boost their Premier League survival hopes when visiting West Ham, but the hosts head into this clash in cracking form.

The Hammers beat Norwich and other relegation candidates Watford in convincing fashion earlier this month, scoring seven times in those fixtures.

Villa have given themselves every chance of pulling off a great escape after edging out Arsenal 1-0 on home turf, with Trezeguet getting the decider.

That followed on from a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace and a 1-1 draw at Everton, helping them climb out of the drop zone on goal difference.

Dean Smith’s side have found some form at a crucial moment and he said: “Now we’ve got the season in our hands and that’s all you can ask for.

“Watford can go and win at Arsenal, though, so we have to make sure we win at West Ham.”

However, it must be remembered that Villa have only picked up 10 of their 34 points on the road and have conceded 36 goals in 18 away games.

West Ham United

West Ham were quite literally given a helping hand by Paul Pogba when drawing 1-1 with Manchester United on Wednesday, but that was still an admirable effort.

Michail Antonio continued his hot streak by scoring from the penalty spot, making it six goals in three outings, as the Hammers led at the break.

Mason Greenwood leveled for the Red Devils in the second period, but David Moyes was justifiably delighted with a fine display against his former club.

“I think we’ve got some good talent, who I believe will improve and get better,” beamed the Scot. “Hopefully, given a little bit of time, we’ll be able to do that.”

The Hammers have been strong starters when taking on teams alongside them at the wrong end of the table, with 14 of their last 20 goals against bottom-half sides scored in the opening period.
