Al Ahly Players & assistant coach tested positive for COVID-19

Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdelhafiz has announced that team goalkeeper Ali Lotfy and central defender Yasser Ibrahim have tested positive for COVID19. Additionally, Rene Weiler’s assistant David Sesa also tested positive.

The Reds are just coming out of an important league outing on Monday after they had their celebrations for the 42nd Egyptian Premier League title postponed as they failed to seal the title with a goalless draw against El-Ettehad.

As per the medical protocol clubs undergo the coronavirus test a day before their game since the league resumption to ensure all players are safe ahead of their match.

Abdelhafiz announced prior to Al Ahly’s game against Ittihad that Lotfy and Ibrahim were tested positive. The two players will undergo another test on Wednesday. Weiler’s assistant was also absent from the game as he also tested positive.
