Champions League 2020/21 Group Stage Draw

The various pots for the 2020-2021 UEFA Champions League group stage draw on October 1st are taking shape, and several teams competing for qualification. Twenty-six teams who succeeded straight for the group stage will be united by the champions of six playoff ties for the group-stage draw.

Every team will be positioned in one of four seeding pots. A draw of lots, without two lineups from the same league to be chosen in a similar group, will distinguish the specific group residents. 

The league champs of the top six leagues, Europe Leagues and Champion Leagues winner, will systematically go into Pot 1. Russian victors Zenit St. Petersburg earned access in Pot 1 as Bayern Munich were considered one of the top 6 league champions and Champions League champ at the same time.

  • Pot 1:

Porto, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Bayern Munich 

  • Pot 2: 

Ajax, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Shaktar Donetsk, Manchester United, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona

  • Pot 3:

Atalanta, Lazio, Inter Milan, RB Leipzig 

  • Pot 4:

Stade Rennais, Istanbul Basaksehir, Borussia Moenchengladbach

Pots for UEFA Champions League Group Stage Draw 

It seems that the group stage of the league is fiercer than ever, along with a few experienced teams in Pot 3. On top of that, RB Leipzig reached the tournament semifinals last year, where they lost to PSG.

On the other hand, Inter Milan reached the Europa League during the final last season and noticed a resurrection under Antonio Content. It appears like this will compete with Juventus for the league title this year’s season.
