Zamalek will be hoping their new signings quickly gel into the team and make the difference as they hope to save a faltering season and keep alive their hopes of an African Champions League spot.

The ailing Cairo giants meet Enppi, who are just one point and one place below them in sixth, on Wednesday on the back of a poor run that included one win, two defeats and a draw in their first four matches under new coach Ehab Galal.

The disappointing run has all but ended Zamalek’s hopes of competing for the league title and cast doubts over their ability to finish as runners up and qualify for the Champions League, having fallen 10 points behind second-placed Ismaily.

They moved to strengthen their squad with six new signings in the January transfer window, including Tunisia right-back Hamdi Nagguez, Maqassa duo Nana Poku and Emad Fathi and Assiouty Sport midfielder Mohamed Antar.

Ghanaian striker Poku and winger Fathi have already featured for Zamalek while Nagguez and Antar are awaiting their debuts.
