Egypt’s Ahly and Zamalek have been handed easy Champions League start during the draws conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to its clubs competition on Monday.

The African Champions League finalists Ahly and Zamalek will not participate in the preliminary stage, and will start competing starting from the round of 32, as the Reds will face the winner of the match between Niger champion Sonidep and Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club.

Meanwhile, the White Knights will be facing the winner of the match between Chad’s champions Gazelle and Djibouti’s CF GR/SIAF.

Not only will the Cairo giants start their participation from the round of 32, but so will DR Congo’s TP Mazembe and Vita Club, Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Angola’s Primero de Agosto, and Guinea’s Horaya.

The first leg matches of the round of 32 will take place on 22-23 December, while the second leg matches are scheduled to be played on 5-6 January 2021.

In the Confederation Cup, Pyramids FC, who reached the final of the 2020 edition, will be play in Round 32 the winner between Somalia’s Horseed FC and Libya’s Al-Ittihad.

The fourth Egyptian team participating in the CAF interclub competitions is the Arab Contractors, which will be the only team to play in the preliminary stages, as they will travel to Djibouti to face Arta Solar 7.

The first leg matches of the preliminary stage will be held from 27 to 29 November, while the second leg will be on 4-6 December and the round of 32’s first leg matches are scheduled to be played on 22-23 December. The away games will be played on 5-6 January 2021.
