Mohamed Salah tests positive for COVID-19

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has tested positive for coronavirus, the Egyptian FA have announced. Salah was with the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double-header against Togo on Saturday and next Tuesday. But the 28-year-old will now have to undergo a period of isolation after contracting the virus.

Salah is the only member of the Egypt squad to have tested positive for COVID-19.

The statement from the official Twitter account of the Egyptian FA reads: “Salah is infected with Coronavirus.

“The medical swab conducted on the test of our first national football team showed that our international player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, was infected with the Coronavirus, after his test came positive … although he does not suffer from any symptoms.. While the other members of the team were negative.”

Salah has become the sixth member of the Liverpool first-team squad to have tested positive for coronavirus.
