Premier League Football: Boxing Day Betting Preview

There’s nothing better to accompany that leftover turkey and mince pies than having a bet on an action-packed day of football from the Premier League.

Gathering around the TV with your betting slip and getting football on live streaming, is what Boxing Day is all about.

England’s top flight really heats up around the Festive period with games coming think and fast in a few weeks that can often decide how the final standings will end up.

This Boxing Day we’ve a whole host of matches to look forward to, so we’ve put together a betting preview to flag up the best bets to have on the big day.

Leciester City v Manchester United

Match Odds: Leicester 39/19, Draw 27/10, Man Utd 17/12

These two sides have been evenly matched in recent seasons and results so far this term would suggest that there won’t be much between them on Boxing Day.

Only a point and a place currently separates them in the table, with Leicester City sitting pretty in second and Manchester United back in third.

United, however, are unbeaten in seven Premier League matches, and are particularly good on the road, winning their last 10 away games in the league and unbeaten in their last 13.

The Red Devils will also arrive at the King Power Stadium following a 6-2 thrashing of Leeds United last Sunday, and will be confident of getting past Leicester City, who haven’t beat United since 2014.

United’s star man, Bruno Fernandes scored twice against Leeds at Old Trafford, including once from the spot to take his tally to 13 for the season. He’s 11/2 to score first in Boxing Day’s early lunchtime kick-off, while a penalty to be scored by Manchester United is available at 4/1.

Betting Tip: Manchester United to win @ 17/12 & Manchester United to score a penalty @ 4/1

Arsenal v Chelsea

Match Odds: Arsenal 3/1, Draw 29/10, Chelsea 42/41

In years gone by a London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea would have been a top of the table clash, and although their rivalry is still alive, their fortunes have been slightly different so far this season.

Under Frank Lampard, Chelsea have shown signs of being title challengers, while Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are looking more like relegations candidates this season with just 14 points from 14 games so far.

Thanks to that tally, the Gunners are just a handful of points outside the drop zone and Chelsea will be keen to make that situation even worse on Boxing Day.

Chelsea have wobbled in recent fixtures, but were previously unbeaten in 14 matches in all competitions, and will be desperate to find their form over the Festive period.

Arsenal’s leaky defence and lack of goal scoring gives Chelsea the perfect opportunity to bounce back, and Lampard will be confident that his boys from the Bridge can do exactly that.

Betting Tip: Chelsea to win @ 42/41

Sheffield United v Everton

Match Odds: Sheff Utd 18/5, Draw 3/1, Everton 5/6

Sheffield United had a season to remember last term in finishing 9th, but the South Yorkshire side have let that all unravel so far this season, and head into Christmas at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Everton, on the other hand, have shown plenty of promise under Carlo Ancelotti and they could well be the best bet on Boxing Day at 5/6 for all three points.

The Toffees are fourth in the top flight, just five points behind leaders Liverpool, and travel to Bramhall Lane looking to make it four wins on the bounce, and five games unbeaten in all competitions.

That recent run includes victories over Arsenal, Leicester City and Chelsea, so a continuation of that kind of form would see a comfortable victory over relegation-threatened Sheffield United.

Betting Tip: Chelsea to win @ 5/6
