Zamalek, who lost the league title to perennial Cairo rivals Ahly last term, made a fine start to their new campaign, collecting seven points from their opening three matches.

They were particularly impressive in their previous 2-0 victory over Smouha, with some of their stars, including Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki, regaining their form.

Enppi made a disappointing start to the season, grabbing just four points from three matches.

Zamalek welcomes back key defensive midfielder Tarek Hamed and left wingback Abdallah Gomaa after both had recovered from COVID-19 infections.

Zamalek forward Youssef ‘Obama’ Ibrahim has signed a three-year contract extension to keep him at the club through to the summer of 2024, the Cairo giants announced on Thursday.

The 25-year-old made his first appearance with Zamalek in 2014, before being loaned in two spells for Ittihad of Alexandria and Wadi Degla in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

He returned to Zamalek in 2017 and was introduced as a regular starter with the club.

Obama has played 84 matches in all fronts, scoring 15 goals so far and helping the club win eight different trophies.
