Famous TV host and satirist Bassem Youssef signed with MBC group at the end of December 2013 and will return back to the screen in February 2014.
Youssef signed a contract with Saudi-owned MBC group in Dubai on Christmas Day to present his controversial TV show “Al Bernamig” on MBC Misr and probably another channel on the MBC network, the sources added.
Youssef’s internationally renowned TV show was suspended on the Egyptian TV channel CBC after the first episode of the third season allegedly for mocking army chief Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi’s supporters and admirers.
QSoft, the production company of Youssef’s show terminated the contract with CBC channel after the latter accused QSoft and Youssef’s crew of breaching the contract between them.
Prosecutors are investigating complaints by El-Sisi supporters who said Youssef insulted the popular defense minister and the Egyptian armed forces.
