Egyptian winger Mohammed Sanad felt confident moving forward as Egypt aims to reach the semi-final. The hosts will face the Russian Handball Federation in the main round opener at the Cairo Stadium Sports Hall, in Group IV which also contains Sweden, Slovenia, North Macedonia, and Belarus.

Speaking to “Egypt 2021’s official website”, Sanad stated that he feels a sense of pride at playing the tournament which is hosted by his country.

“It’s a dream for any player to play in a tournament hosted at home,” said Sanad.

“The only downside is having no fan attendance but there’s nothing we can do with the pandemic. I’d like to thank the local organizing committee and the authorities.

“I have a personal goal of seeing us through to the semi-final stage. It’s not going to be easy, but we’re a good team and have several strong areas.

“We will take it to step by step though. The current generation of Egyptian players are a mixture of young and experienced players, some of whom are able to go on for another 10 years.

“The bubble system is implemented really well, the organizing committee is doing well in showing what Egypt can do in daunting circumstances.”
