Abou-Treika eyes on the 2014 finals in Brazil.

Egypt playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika still holds the ambition of appearing at the World Cup as he eyes the 2014 finals in Brazil.

Apart from the fact that Egypt have been struggling to reach the world’s top competition since 1990, Treika will be 35 come the time of the Brazil finals.

However, the Ahli talisman still believes he can represent the African champions in a World Cup tournament before hanging up his boots.

“I am looking forward to being in the 2014 World Cup,” Abou-Treika, currently with Ahli in the pre-season camp in Germany, was quoted by the club’s official site.

“I am really determined to achieve this ambition because football is all about what happens on the pitch.”

Abou-Treika, who has a host of domestic trophies to his name, was instrumental in Egypt’s African Cup of Nations triumphs in 2006 and 2008.

But he missed the 2010 finals in Angola through injury, which took its toll on 31-year-old during the past couple of seasons.
