Have you ever had that dream where you thought you could fly? Just suddenly lift off the ground and just fly up and away? Yes, you are not the only one and probably most of us have had a burning wish to be able to fly as a kid. Well, it might not be the exact same as flying, but when you jump up on a trampoline, you get to jump so high, the feeling is almost the same. Trampolining is actually a real sport and it is something that everybody should try at some point. Beside the fact that it is really entertaining and liberating, it is actually also a hard core sport that you need to be in shape to do professionally – yes, it is also a professional sport and yes, there is a national team of Denmark competing nationally and internationally in this sport. Did you know that?

Competing on a national and international level

When you are a trampolinist, you obviously go to a lot of competitions both domestically and internationally. In the following, we will try to explain a bit about how these competitions work.  Firstly, there are a bunch of different classes that you can join and they all differentiate on skills. The best class is the A-class which you have to be really good to join. Moving further down the list is B, C, D, E class, and the amount of classes variate from tournament to tournament. For the first couple of hours at a trampoline competition, you get to warm up. Usually, four or six trampolines have been set up for you to use, and then you just get in line to spend some time warming up on the trampoline and going through the sequence of tricks in the air before the competition actually begins. After a few hours, the competition begins and you wait for your name to be called on the speaker. When it does, you go to your preferred trampoline and jump up. First thing, you nod to the judges who are sitting closely by, signaling that you are ready to begin. You start performing your sequence of 10 tricks, and when you are done, it is important that you stand perfectly still afterwards. This shows the judges that you are in full control and in complete balance. People will clap, and the judges will vote and give you points from 1-10 for the execution of the tricks and one judge will give you a score depending on the difficulty of the sequence.
