Wydad Casablanca and MC Alger face off in this CAF quarter-final second leg with the tie currently locked at 1-1. As expected, when taking into account the defensive form of both sides heading into the knockout stages, the first leg was a low-scoring encounter, however, Wydad will be the happier of the two sides after securing a vital away goal.

This leaves MC Alger with no choice but to adopt a riskier playstyle with more emphasis on offense, as in order to overturn this tie the Algerian side has to score at least once.

This could lead to Wydad being afforded more space in behind to create opportunities themselves, which spells trouble for MC Alger. The hosts won all three of their home fixtures in the group stage, scoring eight times without conceding and with an away goal under their belts, they are expected to finish the job here by beating MC Alger over 90 minutes in this second leg.

If Wydad can repeat a similar performance and with the away goal playing in their favor, they’ll have a lot of chances of getting through to the semi-finals. However, Alger are still alive and they have some time now to tweak their tactics and try a different approach for the away game in which a victory would get them through.
