LIVE: Africa Cup of Nations Draw | AFCON 2021

The draw will kick off at 19h00 local time (18h00 Cairo Local Time) 13:00 ET Canada-USA.

The star-studded line-up of legends will join the 24 team representatives and other dignitaries attending the final draw.

CAF, together with Cameroon Local Organising Committee, today revealed the list of final draw assistants: they are multiple CAF Player of the Year winner and Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o, Cote d’Ivoire legend Didier Drogba, Algeria’s Rabah Madjer, Cameroonian Gaelle Enganamouit and Ghana’s all-time top goalscorer Asamoah Gyan.

The draw will master will be CAF Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu.

CAF announced the two hosts for the event: Nigeria’s Mimi Fawaz – a BBC sports correspondent and Cameroonian radio hosts Leonard Chatelain.

Samuel Eto’o

The Cameroonian striker is regarded one of the best players in African football history. He guided the Indomitable Lions to two AFCON titles in 2000 and 2002, in addition to the Olympic Games gold medal in Sydney 2000.

Eto’o was named CAF African Player of the Year four times (2004, 2004, 2005 and 2010). He is the all-time AFCON top scorer on 18 goals. He is Cameroon’s all-time top scorer with 56 international goals.

Didier Drogba

Drogba guided Cote d’Ivoire to their very first appearance at the FIFA World Cup in 2006 and participated in two other World Cups in 2010 and 2014. He was twice AFCON runner-up with “The Elephants” in 2006 and 2012.

The Ivorian striker has been voted CAF African Player of the Year twice, in 2006 and 2009. He is the all-time top scorer in Côte d’Ivoire with 65 international goals.

Gaelle Enganamouit

The Cameroonian striker won the African Games Women gold medal in 2011. She represented Cameroon at the London 2012 Olympic Games as well as the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women World Cups.

For Cameroon’s first match in the Women’s World Cup in 2015 against Ecuador, she scored a hat-trick. In the same year, she was voted African Female player at the CAF Awards.

She was twice the women AFCON runner-up with Cameroon in 2014 and 2016, Enganamouit actively participated in the bronze medals obtained by the Lionesses in 2012 and 2018 in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Rabah Madjer

Rabah Madjer led Algeria to their first-ever AFCON title at home in 1990, being named as player of the tournament. He was a part of Algeria’s first team to play in the FIFA World Cup in 1982 and played also in the 1986 edition.

With 28 goals for Les Fennecs (a record at the time), Madjer was named as African Player of the Year in 1987.

Asamoah Gyan

Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of Ghana with 51 goals. He represented Ghana at three FIFA World Cup editions in 2006, 2010 and 2014. With six goals to his name, he is the top African goalscorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup.

Gyan has also represented Ghana in seven AFCON editions between 2008 and 2019, helping the Black Stars to finish as runner-up in 2010 and 2015.
