Mahmoud Alaa the hat-trick hero! | Zamalek 3-0 El-Geish | highlights

Defender Mahmoud Alaa hit a hat- trick as Zamalek climbed to the Egyptian league summit after defeating Talae El-Geish 3-0 at Petro Sports stadium on Thursday.

The towering defender opened the scoring for the White Knights in the 32 minutes of the game with a nice header before adding the second with the same style, three minutes from the hour-mark.

He completed the rout nine minutes from time, taking his tally to five goals in the Egyptian League so far.

The 25-year-old is leading the Egyptian league top scorers’ list with Arab Contractors striker Ahmed Ali who scored twice in his side’s 2-1 win over Gouna on Wednesday.

The first half witnessed many goal scoring opportunities from both sides as keepers Mohamed Bassam and Mahmoud Abdel-Rehim were the stars of the first 45 minutes.

Mahmoud Alaa met a pinpoint cross from a corner with a nice header to open the scoring for the White Knights.

Zamalek keeper Mahmoud Abdel-Rehim came on the rescue for his side when he blocked two-close range shots, preventing the military side from leveling the score before the break.

The second half saw more concentration from Zamalek players who intensified their attacks and Mahmoud Alaa doubled the score with another nice header in the 57 minute.

Three minutes later, Talae El-Geish had the chance to reduce the gap but keeper Mahmoud Abdel-Rehim blocked a close-range chance from Talla N’Diaye.

Alaa secured the win with his third goal, giving his side a three precious points.

Zamalek are leading the league table with 13 points, one point ahead of second-placed Pyramids.
