Speaking to Modern Kora TV’s Ahmed Shobeir, the American tactician said he was impressed by Barakat in the friendly defeat to Bayern Munich, where the Ahli number 8 scored his side’s only goal.

“When I watched Ahli and Bayern Munich, of course the player who on this night I thought was very very good was Barakat,” said Bradley when asked about the possibility of talking Barakat out of his international retirement.

“I remember that he had played in the past and had been out injured, but I didn’t remember how old he was.

“I asked about his age and they said 35. So I thought… No that’s not the answer I wanted to hear!

“But then to be fair, just like with all the other players, you have to judge whether a player is still capable of helping, whether as a starters or as a reserve, whether it is for one game or a whole tournament.”
