Another of the Egyptian internationals to have started out at Ghazl Al-Mehalla, Ahmed Al Muhammadi subsequently made the move to ENPPI in 2006. The switch certainly paid off with Al Muhammadi part of the Egyptian squad at the 2007 African Youth Championship, swiftly followed by his senior debut in a friendly against Côte d’Ivoire in Paris in August of the same year.

Having started his career as a striker, Al Muhammadi was often among the goals for Egypt’s youth national teams and his former club Ghazl Al-Mehalla. Once at ENPPI, however, he made the move to right wing-back, where his pace, dribbling ability and eye for goal have helped him become Egypt’s first-choice in this position. Indeed, it is this attacking ability that has earned Al Muhammadi an edge over his more defensive-minded rival Ahmed Fathi in coach Hassan Shehata‘s tactical set-up.
