Al Ahly will be looking for their first Africa Super Cup title against Zamalek SC (4 times Super Cup winners) tonight in Morocco.

The African Super Handball Cup is an international clubs competition of the African continent. It takes place in one day, one match, between the winner of the African Champions Championship and the winner of the African Championship Cup Winners Club. This competition was born in somewhat peculiar circumstances, for it was after a drama that it was created.

Indeed, the President of the Confederation of African Handball (CAHB) in the 1990s, Mr Babacar FALL, died in 1994. He was highly esteemed and appreciated in Africa, but also in the International Handball Federation (IHF).

Mr Babacar FALL was actively involved in the development of African handball. In order to commemorate his memory, this competition was put in place the first time in 1994 and bears his name.

They commonly call the Super Cup of Africa: “Super Cup Babacar FALL”

The first edition in 1994 took place in Dakar, Senegal, and was organized jointly by the IHF and CAHB.
