Shahata: We are capable of beating Algeria

Egypt coach Hassan Shehata believes that his side are capable of beating Algeria in the upcoming World Cup qualifier.

The Pharaohs faced Oman in a warm-up match and took part in a training camp in the sultanate over the last week, in preparation for their clash against the Desert Foxes.

Although the match, which takes place on June 7th in Algeria, has been surrounded by a lot of media hype and controversy, Shehata sounded confident of his team’s chances.

“I feel relaxed; our preparatory camp and friendly game in Oman were successful and I reckon we will pull off a good result against Algeria,” the former Zamalek star told FilGoal.com.

However, Shehata voiced his disgruntlement over several individuals in his team, but refused to disclose their identities.

“To be honest, there are some players whom I think were not up to scratch in the game,” he added.

The Egyptian national side will resume their preparations for the Algeria trip on Tuesday, and their daily training sessions will be held at Cairo Stadium.

The six-time African champions were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Zambia in their first qualifier, which raised doubts over their qualification prospects.
