Egypt Drops on FIFA world ranking!

African champions Egypt have dropped three places to 40th, their lowest position since November 2007, in the June edition of the

The Pharaohs further slipped in the ranking table despite beating Oman 1-0 in a friendly game on May 30th.

Egypt, who reached their best ever position last January when they occupied the 15th spot, will have a chance to improve their status in this month’s FIFA Confederations Cup.

They will face Italy, Brazil and the United States in Group B of the quadrennial tournament, which kicks of in South Africa on June 14th.

EURO 2008 winners Spain remain on top of the table with a comfortable lead over Holland, who leapfrogged Germany into second place.

World champions Italy, who were fifth last month, moved up to fourth spot as Brazil dropped to fifth.
