Egypt U-20 midfielder set for Cologne trial

“He could join Cologne before the closure of the summer transfer window,”

“He underwent a trial with Cologne in March but the deal did not go through because the club had many foreigners in their squad.”

Mazhar, 19, came through Ahli’s youth ranks before joining Rutgers.

He doesn’t feature regularly for Egypt’s U-20 team, who will take part in the World Cup on home soil in September.

Mazhar could be the third Egyptian to play in the Bundesliga after Mainz’s Gamal Hamza and Borussia Dortmund’s Mohamed Zidan.
