Egyptian legend Hossam Hassan has taken over as coach of Zamalek after the dismissal of former France boss Henri Michel.
Michel was fired after the Cairo giants’ suffered their fifth loss of the league season at the weekend.
The 2-0 defeat by Police Union leaves Zamalek 15 points behind their great rivals Al Ahly, who top the table.
Hassan is Egypt’s most capped international and played for both Ahly and Zamalek during his club career.
He has previously been coach and general manager of the Al Masry club.
He played for Egypt at the 1990 World Cup and at the Africa Cup of Nations three times.
Michel took over at Zamalek after being sacked in April by South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns after a six month spell.
He was manager of France when they finished third at the 1986 World Cup finals and then coached a succession of international sides.
This was his second stint in charge of Zamalek – he only took over in August this year.
