CAF: U-19 2011 Nations Cup postponed

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) said the 2011 Youth Championship has been postponed.
The U-19 competition, which was supposed to get underway on 18 March, was put off due to security uncertainties in host country Libya.

Demonstrations against Libyan president Muammar Al-Gaddafi broke out of late, which prompted hundreds of deaths over the past weeks.
It was announced that the host country will have to change before CAF confirmed that the tournament will be delayed.

“Due to security concerns and the current unstable political situation in Libya, the competition has been postponed to a later date and within a location to be confirmed by CAF in the next few days,” read a statement on the African governing body’s site.

“CAF will inform all parties of the new confirmed dates of the event, which shall be held in the first half of this year.”
