Al Ahly football committee have stepped up their interest in signing Haras El-Hodoud hitman Ahmed Eid Abdel-Malak next summer after the player revealed on Wednesday he would like to join the Cairo giants.
We welcome Abdel-Maleks interest to join our team, as he is a talented player who could book his place in the starting eleven quickly, Ahly Football Executive Director Hadi Khashaba was quoted as saying on the clubs official website.
Ahly tried to sign Abdel-Malek several times before but the military club refused to offload the star.
We negotiated with Haras El-Hodoud to sign Abdel-Malek last season but they refused to release him, Khashaba explained.
The 30-year-old forward revealed that he is eager to play for Ahly next season during a telephone call on the teams channel.
I am eager to wear the red jersey next season and I can save a regular place in the teams squad in a short time, he told the Ahly channel.
The Pharaohs attackers contract with El-Hodoud expires at the end of the current season.
I reached an agreement with El-Hodoud officials not to extend my stay with the team, he added.
