Essam El-Hadary blocked four penalties and scored two to lead Merrikh past Ulinzi Stars
Egyptian top keeper Essam El-Hadary produced one of his astonishing displays, blocking four penalty kicks and scoring two in a thriller 10-9 session to edge Sudanese giants Merrikh past Kenyan champions Ulinzi Stars in the CECAFA Club championship quarter-finals on Tuesday.
After 90 minutes, the score was locked at 1-1 and both sides had to go through the penalty shootout.
The session went up to 12 spot-kicks for each side and the 38-year-old shot-stopper hero denied the Kenyans on four occasions and managed to score twice himself.
Merrikh will face the winner from Simba and Bunamwaya (Uganda).
