Al Ahly starts with a 1-0 victory over Haras El-Hodoud in their Egyptian Premier League opener on Friday.
A second-half header from Emad Meteb gave defending champions Ahly a dour 1-0 win over Haras El-Hodoud in their Egyptian Premier League opener on Friday.
Meteb beat his marker to a superb cross from left-back Sayed Moawad at the near post to send a powerful header past Farag as wild celebrations broke out in the stadium, with Ahly fans lighting fireworks which could prompt the EFA to punish the club again.
El-Hodoudm, lacking any spark or creativity, tried to mount pressure in the latter stages but failed to threaten Ahly keeper Sherif Ekramy.
