Egypt reached the Olympic Games for the first time in 20 years after securing a 2-0 victory over Senegal to finish third at the U-23 African Championship in Morocco on Saturday.
Two goals from striker Ahmed Sherweida and midfielder Saleh Gomaa either side of the interval gave Egypt a precious win as the young Pharaohs made up for their 3-2 defeat by hosts Morocco in the semi-final.
The victory lifted Hany Ramzy’s side to next year’s London Games, joining Morocco and Gabon who meet in the African Championship final later on Saturday.
