Bayern Trashed SC Al-Sailiya 13- ZERO
The goals rained in and Bastian Schweinsteiger returned to action as Bayern made a winning start to 2012 in a 13-0 friendly win over Qatari second tier outfit SC Al-Sailiya at the Doha training camp on Thursday. Arjen Robben, Mario Gomez and Thomas Müller netted before half-time, before Ivica Olic hit five, Nils Petersen and Franck Ribéry claimed a brace apiece, and Diego Contento scored another in a one-sided second period.
The side sent out by Jupp Heynckes to start the warm-up match bore a strong whiff of the potential line-up for the Bundesliga restart fixture away to Borussia Mönchengladbach on 20 January. Manuel Neuer kept goal behind a back four of Jérôme Boateng, Daniel van Buyten, Holger Badstuber and Philipp Lahm. In central midfield, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk partnered Schweinsteiger, taking part in a competitive match for the first time since breaking a collarbone two months ago. Robben, Müller, Toni Kroos and Gomez took up the attacking positions. Heynckes swapped all eleven of his players at half-time, with Ribéry arguably the biggest name in the second-half line-up.
