Mohamed Zidan scores his 4th in as many games as Mainz crush Kaiserslautern 4-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday
In-form forward Mohamed Zidan set Mainz on their way to an emphatic 4-0 home victory over Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The 29-year-old has taken his tally to four goals in as many games since joining Mainz in January from league holders Borussia Dortmund.
He needed two minutes to open the scoring, sending a clinical first-time shot into the bottom corner from inside the area after making the most of a pull-back by Nicolai Muller.
Zidan has scored in three successive 1-1 draws for Mainz since his arrival, but his side has finally broken this habit after notching up three goals to claim all three points.
They made sure of the win through goals from Muller, Adam Szalai and Maxim Choupo-Moting.
Zidan was surprisingly left out of Egypts squad for three friendly games in Qatar. However, he insisted he had no problems with the Pharaohs American boss Bob Bradley.
Mainz lie 10th in the 18-team Bundesliga table with 27 points from 23 games.
